Postdoctoral position in observational cosmology
Job Summary
Parkville VIC
Australia
Job Description
The Astrophysics Group at the University of Melbourne invites applications for a research fellow in observational cosmology working with A/Prof Christian Reichardt.
The position offers opportunities for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to take on a major role on the SPT-3G experiment on the South Pole Telescope. The main focus will be to advance work to delens CMB B-mode polarization using data from SPT-3G. Effective delensing is crucial to achieving the targeted sensitivity to inflationary gravitational waves from the South Pole Observatory. The successful applicant will collaborate with international co-Investigators on the BICEP Array and South Pole Telescope (SPT) projects. A fraction of the time will be available for independent research projects.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to contact Christian Reichardt for additional information. Applications should be submitted through the University of Melbourne web site and must include a CV with publications, a brief statement of research Interests, and the names and contact information for three references. Letters will be requested after an initial screening.
The School of Physics is a partner in the ARC Centre of Excellences for Dark Matter Particle Physics, and Gravitational Wave Discovery, and provides a vibrant collaborative environment. The School collaborates with researchers around the globe to address some of the most fundamental problems today in astro- and particle physics. Beyond CMB observations, the School works on the MWA radio telescope, LHC and LIGO. The School also has substantial expertise in neutrino and ‘Beyond the standard model’ physics.
