Job Description

There will be a postdoctoral scholar opening in the research group of Prof. Sasha Philippov starting September 1, 2023. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the expectation of renewal for a total of three years. The successful candidate will conduct independent and collaborative research on applications of plasma and/or fluid simulation methods to problems in high-energy astrophysics, including (but not limited to) pulsar, black hole and binary neutron star magnetospheres, the physics of radiative magnetic reconnection and particle acceleration mechanisms in astrophysical jets.  A strong background in high-energy astrophysics, plasma physics, computational science and parallel computing is preferred.  The successful candidate will have access to outstanding computational facilities, opportunities for collaboration and support for travel.  A PhD in Astronomy, Physics, or a related field is required. Interested persons must submit a curriculum vitae, bibliography, a statement of research interests and arrange for three reference letters sent directly by the writers.
