The star and planet formation group at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Postdoctoral Scholars who will work on young stars, young planets, protoplanetary disks, planet formation, or any related fields (candidates are welcome to suggest their own projects on either theory or observations.) Previous experience in numerically related research (including but not limited to, hydrodynamics, MHD, radiation HD, dust dynamics, radiative transfer, chemistry) is preferred but strong candidates on other related fields will also be considered. The candidates are also welcome to work with group members and broadly with other members in the department.
UNLV has an active astrophysics research group with research interests that include exoplanets and planet formation, high energy astrophysics, accretion discs, gamma ray bursts, galactic and extragalactic astronomy, and laboratory astrophysics. Researchers have access to UNLV’s 200Gb/s dedicated research network and the new 26,000-core Cherry Creek super computer. Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding/performance and may be renewed up to a maximum of three years.
