The Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Toledo invites applications for a postdoctoral position in theoretical/computational astrophysics. The selected applicant will work with Prof. Eli Visbal on topics related to the high-redshift universe. Potential research areas include developing theoretical predictions of the first stars, the first supermassive black holes, cosmic reionization, and/or galaxy line-intensity mapping. A competitive salary will be provided and funding is available for travel to scientific conferences. There will also be opportunities to co-advise graduate and/or undergraduate student research. The position is expected to begin in August 2021 and to continue for three years contingent on satisfactory performance.
The astronomy program at UToledo currently has 8 faculty, 3 postdocs, and approximately 20 graduate students who maintain a vigorous program of research and public outreach. The program was recently selected as one of three areas of research excellence within the university.
Requirements are a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a related field (by the start of the appointment) and research experience in theoretical/computational astrophysics.
