Special Session Proposal Form

  • Current missions and facilities should request Special Sessions or a Meeting-in-a-Meeting to present results.
  • Future missions and facilities can utilize exhibits, Workshops, Splinter Meetings, or websites to provide information to the community.

Special Sessions will only be scheduled during one of the following time-slots:
Monday – Thursday: 10:00 am–11:30 am or 2:00 pm–3:30 pm

Organizer Information
Organizers must be full AAS members.
Session Information
Please indicate your first choice for the day on which you would like the session to be scheduled.
Please indicate your second choice for the day on which you would like the session to be scheduled.
Maximum 2000 characters. This session description will be posted online, as well as printed in the final Meeting Program--please submit a description in the format that you would like the meeting attendees to read. See Summer Meeting Session Proposal Information and Deadlines for the final description deadline.
Please list the names of confirmed speakers, and their affiliations. Potential topics are optional. Please note: The VP Planning Committee will only accept those proposals that include a strong confirmed speaker list. Also, the Committee looks for the session to be representative of the diversity of those working in astronomy. See Summer Meeting Session Proposal Information and Deadlines for the final speaker list deadline.
Do you want to accept contributed orals for this session? Note: If yes, abstracts that are not accepted will be sorted during general abstract sorting.
Do you want a poster session associated with your session? Associated Poster Sessions are generally scheduled on the same day as your Special Session, and are open to Research Contributed submissions. You will have the opportunity to accept/decline all contributed abstracts.

Audio Visual Equipment and Services
All Special Sessions and Town Halls will be provided with the following standard equipment and services: LCD Projector, Screen, Laptop, 2 Wireless microphones, Podium, Podium Microphone, and Internet Connection. There may be costs for additional equipment.
