Two AAS-endorsed regional meetings, the MidAmerican Regional Astrophysics Conference and the 2017 Kentucky Area Meeting, took place in April 2017.
Meetings Tag Definition: Relates to the overall Meetings program and everything produced by the Meetings Department. Additional meeting specific tags (e.g. aas222) are used to categorize items for individual meetings.
- Items produced by other departments for a specific meeting do not contain the general Meetings tag. They are categoriezed within their subject area (e.g. Press, Policy, Public Outreach) plus they contain the specific meeting tag (e.g. aas222).
- Members may subscribe to the main Meetings category to receive notifications for ALL meetings OR they may subscribe to individual meetings using the specific meeting number tags.
The 49th annual meeting of the AAS Division for Planetary Sciences will take place 15-20 October 2017 in Provo, Utah. Workshop proposals are due 24 May and abstract submission is now open.

The Texas state legislature recently passed a bill that regulates the enforcement by campus police departments and certain local governmental entities of state and federal laws governing immigration. The governor of Texas signed this bill into law on 7 May 2017. However, the law does not go into effect until 1 September 2017. Therefore we do not anticipate any negative impact on our meeting participants for this conference.
A recently adopted AAS meetings policy reinforces the Society's commitment to making its meetings welcoming to all attendees, regardless of identities such as sexual orientation and gender expression.
