Gift of Securities
The AAS is happy to work with you on making gifts of publicly traded securities that have appreciated in value. These gifts often provide a greater tax benefit than an equivalent gift in cash. You can claim a charitable deduction for the full market value of the securities on the date the gift is made. Gifts of securities are also not subject to the capital gains tax.
As the year comes to a close, please consider making a donation to the AAS. Contributions are used to recognize extraordinary service, honor outstanding research, and celebrate student achievement.

The American Astronomical Society (AAS) is committed to programs that recognize the active involvement of our members. By participating in our 2012 Spring/Summer Campaign, your dollars will be used to promote astronomy globally by advancing students, acknowledging extraordinary service, and celebrating outstanding research.
Tax-deductible gifts in any amount may be sent by check or credit card directly to the AAS Executive Office. If you wish to direct your contribution to a specific objective, simply indicate the fund(s) for which the gift is designated.
While the Society is very dependent on its membership dues, it also benefits, as other similar organizations do, from the generosity of its members. That generosity takes many forms, including annual contributions and gifts of many kinds.
