The American Astronomical Society's Harlow Shapley Visiting Lectureship is a program of two-day visits by professional astronomers who bring the excitement of modern astronomy and astrophysics to colleges of all types. Participation is open to two-year colleges and four-year undergraduate institutions throughout North America, including Canada and Mexico, and, especially institutions that do not offer an astronomical degree.
More than 100 early-career AAS members have been trained in effective science education and public outreach and are actively engaging audiences all across the US in the excitement of modern astronomy.
Individuals at US institutions are welcome to apply for support for airline travel to the August 2015 IAU General Assembly in Honolulu, Hawaii. Deadline: 1 April (extended from 9 January).
