Astronomy and Astrophysics Decadal Survey Committee Named

The membership of the NRC's ASTRO2010 committee, otherwise known as the Decadal Survey of Astronomy and Astrophysics has been announced. Comments on the membership can be submitted for the next 20 days via the NRC web page http://www8.nationalacademies.org/cp/projectview.aspx?key=48964. The committee's first meeting will be on December 5th and 6th in Washington DC. Information on the agenda is available on the same web page.

HR 6063, the NASA Authorization Act of 2008, was amended and passed by the Senate by unanimous consent on September 25, and subsequently passed the house on September 27. It was signed by the president in early October. The Senate added, at the request of Senator Tom Coburn's office (R-OK), the following text:
