4. FIVE COLLEGE RADIO ASTRONOMY OBSERVATORY PROPOSALS
Due: 15 January 2003

The Five College Radio Astronomy Observatory solicits  proposals for observations with the FCRAO 14 meter telescope. The DEADLINE FOR PROPOSAL SUBMISSION is 15 January 2003 for programs to be scheduled between February and May 2003. The telescope is equipped with a 32 element focal plane array receiver (SEQUOIA) which is comprised of low noise MMIC amplifiers with SSB receiver noise temperatures of 60 K. The autocorrelation spectrometer system enables the observation of two spectral lines within 85-100 GHz or 100-115 GHz bands simultaneously. On the Fly mapping is now the standard observing mode which allows more efficient imaging of the millimeter sky. More detailed information of FCRAO and proposal instructions are available at

5. MARIA MITCHELL SEEKS TELESCOPE TRADE
Offers due: 23 January 2003

The Maria Mitchell Association is seeking to upgrade the research capability at its Vestal Street Observatory, and now offers to trade the historic 7.5-inch photographic telescope for a modern, computer-controlled, research-grade mount capable of carrying a telescope in the 20-24 inch size range, or perhaps to sell it outright. We hate to part with this telescope which served so well for 90 years, but we do not have the space to display it, nor the resources to restore it properly. We would appreciate any help in finding this telescope a new home while enabling us to obtain a good research instrument.
