1/5/2009 2:00 - 3:30 PM The Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) will execute its "First Light" observations ("Short Science") in the spring of 2009, followed, in the fall, by the first set of community proposed observations ("Basic Science"). The call for Basic Science observations is scheduled to be released in mid December 2008 with a proposal deadline in mid February 2009. This AAS Special Session is aimed at encouraging and helping prospective "Basic Science" proposers – particularly those not directly involved in SOFIA or SOFIA instrument teams – to define their observing programs, provide the latest observatory characteristics and a discussion forum between proposers and SOFIA staff. Organizer: Bengt-Goran Andersson, John Hopkins University |
