[47.03] Dynamics of Two Satellites in the 2/1 Mean-Motion Resonance: application to the Enceladus-Dione system

N. Callegari, Jr., T. Yokoyama (UNESP/DEMAC/Rio Claro/Brazil)

A systematic study of the 2/1 Mean-Motion Resonance in satellites systems (2/1 MMRS) is presented with a planar model with two degrees-of-freedom. The model considers the mutual perturbations between the two satellites, and the oblateness of the planet is considered up to J4 terms. In this work we show the results of the atlas of the 2/1 MMRS applied to the case of the Enceladus-Dione system. Using techniques as surfaces of section and Fourier spectral analysis, the main possible regimes of motion of the system are explorad, and a detailed study of their topology is given. Using the current values of the parameters of the system (as semi-major axes, masses, etc), we show that, inside the resonance, the structure of the phase space is dominated by several others secondary resonances involving the two main resonant frequencies. Some attempts of searching for other significative regions of the phase space (i. e., considering different data parameters) were performed, and as a result we show some regions where the 2/1 MMRS can lead to important chaotic motions.

This work is supported by Fapesp (proc. 04/11826-8).
