[28.04] Effects of Microlensing on the Light Curves and P-Cygni Profiles of Supernovae Type Ia

We describe the apparent light curves of microlensed SNe type Ia, as well as the effects of microlensing on the P-Cygni profile in the spectral lines of these objects. We show that microlensing amplification can have a significant effect on the supernova light curve and its P-Cygni profile, but the time delay cannot remarkably change either of them. The microlensing phenomenon can effectively change the trend of SNe type Ia light curves resulting in features such as a double peak and/or huge increase in the magnitude. It can also dramatically change the appearance of spectral lines of these objects. A model supernova light curve and a set of numerically generated spectral lines are used to compare lensed and unlensed cases. We briefly discuss the probability of observing such effects for cosmologically distant supernovae (z=1 and beyond). This work is limited to spherically symmetric deflectors.
