[78.05U] A K-Selected Candidate Galaxy Cluster with z ~0.9 in the NOAO Deep Wide Field Survey

Deep near-infrared imaging is an ideal tool to search for high-redshift galaxy clusters. We have examined a one square degree patch of sky from the NOAO Deep Wide Field Survey (NDWFS) in the constellation Bootes. We used K-band data taken with the ONIS camera on the KPNO 2.1m telescope and deep B, R, and I data from the MOSAIC camera on the KPNO 4m. Several candidate clusters were found, including one with a photometric redshift of z\rm phot ~0.90. This candidate includes eight K < 18.5 galaxies with photometric redshifts between 0.8 and 1.0 in a 4 square arcmin region, representing an 8.4 sigma deviation from the average surface density of such sources. Five of these galaxies, falling within a 46 arcsec diameter region, have 17.3 < K < 18 and I - K ~4.
