[138.18] Chandra X-ray observations of 16 radio-loud quasars

J.K. Reitz, R.M. Sambruna (GMU), GMU Collaboration

As part of our GO2 survey of extragalactic jets, we obtained Chandra observations of a sample of 16 radio galaxies, spanning the redshift range z=0.06-1.9. In this poster we report on the X-ray spectral properties of the bright cores of the sources. Typically, several hundred counts were detected from the cores, allowing a detailed spatial, spectral , and timing study. We detect an Fe Kalpha emission line from two quasars, X-ray column densities in excess to the Galactic value along the line of sight in a few cases, and extended X-ray halos around the core in at least two sources. We will also combine the X-ray spectra of the cores with published multiwavelength fluxes to construct broad-band spectral energy distributions. The implications for the physics of radio-loud sources will be discussed.
