Session 93 - GRIS.
Oral session, Wednesday, January 15
The Gamma Ray Imaging Spectrometer (GRIS) recently observed the gamma-ray emission from the Galactic center region. We searched for the diffuse gamma-ray line emissions at 1173 keV and 1332 keV as expected from the decay chain of the nucleosynthetic ^60Fe. We do not find any evidence for such radiations. We derive 2-sigma upper limits for the Galactic emission in the lines assuming different source distributions. These limits are lower than those reported by previous observations performed at high energy resolution. This allows us to constrain the yield of ^60Fe in Galactic chemical evolution models.
