The concept of `Electronic Information Handling' (EIH) is taking over that of `Electronic Publishing' (EP) which is too restrictive and often interpreted in different ways. The distinction between formal and `grey' literature is becoming everyday more difficult. Electronic documents have to be treated in a `genetic' way. `Validation' procedures (ex-`refereeing') have to be tailored to the electronic age. Astronomical `information' includes nowadays the increasingly important yellow-page services (YPSs) too. The substance of libraries and the r\^ole of librarians are also significantly changing.
Several aspects of the information technology (IT) evolution have to be taken with a grain of salt. The explosion of documents on WWW (the `web') is not a bed of roses as new problems, new questions and new challenges are raised, especially on ethical, legal and educational grounds.
