## [78.07] Galactic Distributions of Stars in the Michigan Catalogue of MK Types for the HD Stars

N. Houk (U. Michigan), J. Sowell, S. Austin (Georgia Tech)

The systematic, spectroscopic reclassification of the HD stars by Houk is approximately two-thirds complete. Over 150,000 stars have been classified visually using 10$^\circ$ objective prism plates (2 \AA\ resolution) taken at CTIO with the Michigan Curtis Schmidt telescope. The published portion of this large, homogeneous database, taken from Volumes 1 -- 4 of the Michigan Spectral Catalogue (declination $-$90$^\circ$ to $-$12$^\circ$), has been used to investigate the galactic (l, b) distributions of the objects via Aitoff equal area projection plots. Particular attention has been given to the normal dwarfs and giants, the supergiants, and many of the spectroscopically peculiar classes of stars, such as the WR, Ap, Am, $\delta$~Del, C, S, CH, Ba, and CN stars.

We greatly appreciate the continuing support of the National Science Foundation and for a grant from the Undergraduate Research Experience program administered by the AAS.
