During approximately the first 18 months of the Compton
Observatory mission, the EGRET telescope has detected more
than 20 active galaxies that are predominantly flat-spectrum
Temporal variability of the gamma-ray flux is observed in many
of these sources.
A summary of these observations is presented along with discussion
of the implications for emission models.
