1. STATUS OF RECRUITMENT FOR DIRECTOR OF EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

The Society has been actively recruiting for this position, but there has only been a small number of qualified applications so far. The AAS is committed to finding the best possible person to fill this critically important position. Accordingly, the Search Committee has recommended that the search be kept open to establish a larger and more diverse pool before moving on to the next step of developing an interview shortlist. Thus, the recruitment for this position will remain open until, in the judgment of the search committee, there is an adequate pool of
qualified applicants from which to draw a shortlist.

We continue to encourage inquiries and applications from persons with experience in and commitment to astronomical education, especially at the undergraduate level.

This position is listed as Job 11702 in the AAS Job Register. It may be found on the web at

http://www.aas.org/JobRegister/no11702.html

Inquires regarding the position may be addressed to Bob Milkey, mailto:milkey@aas.org, or 202-328-2010.
